The Book on Freebies for You on the Grand Strand

The money we spend buying things from Myrtle Beach merchants isn’t unlimited. When travelers budget for a trip, it’s nice to have a few items that won’t dig into the funds. That’s why it’s helpful to know where the freebies are waiting for you.

You can find some on the Grand Strand.

We’ve compiled this list of freebies to consider on your next trip. Myrtle Beach has always been a great place to find such things. But first, here’s a little advice for planning a beach trip on a budget.

Tips for planning a beach trip on a budget

There are places to help you get the most out of your budget. Planning a vacation gets easier when you know! Try some of these.

  1. Plan your activities

For a group or even a family, find out what they want to do most. Desires might be easy to appease, such as great beach access or an on-site breakfast.

  1. Save ahead

The average family of four will need about $4,500 for a beach getaway. Families vary, so find your figure, and see how long you’ll need to save.

  1. Tether your floatables

Avoid the cost of replacing these items — and the tears little ones might shed if the wind carries them off to sea. Tether them with a stake and string of rope or twine.

We’re still in search of free pudding in Myrtle Beach, but there are other things, too. We’ll keep you posted.

  1. Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum

See visual-arts exhibits, spotlighting Southern artists. You’ll love the artwork on display at Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum. Sometimes, it’s the works of local students. The gift shop is tax-free and includes beauty and health, Kantha scarves, home decor and gifts, and more.

  1. Conway Riverwalk

Head northwest of Myrtle Beach where the tranquility is free and the scenery is majestic. Walk beneath the 1937 Waccamaw River Memorial Bridge and see the Conway City Marina. It’s often the scene of live music and a seasonal farmers’ market.

  1. Murrells Inlet Marshwalk

See a different sort of natural beauty of the area with a walk along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Murrells Inlet Marshwalk is a prime spot to see eagles, egrets, gators, and more in its unique habitat. There’s also plenty of wildlife in the bars and eateries that dot the wooden walkway.

Have a seat and enjoy live music at many restaurants, for free.

  1. Broadway at the Beach

It’s acres of entertainment. Visit for family events, fireworks, and plenty of window shopping for free. Many choose to spend some of their fun money eating and shopping at Broadway at the Beach. You might see your kids’ favorite characters strolling about, too.

  1. The beach

Ah, the main reason you headed to the coast! It costs nothing to toss a beach blanket down, bring a great read and snacks, and relax. Search for shells and sharks’ teeth, build a sandcastle, and take a long walk to the pier.

For dinner with a view, bring your takeout or meal you made in your resort down to the beach.
