As you plan for your coastal holiday trip, you don't want to miss out on all that Myrtle Beach is doing to celebrate as well. The Strand hotel is centrally located in the heart of Myrtle Beach, providing access to different events going on along the coast. Here is a brief list of the best holiday events happening this season.

The 36th Annual Dickens Christmas Show and Festival – November 9–12

This multi-day festival is at the Sheraton Convention Center, a less than 5-minute drive from The Strand Resort. You can finish up your holiday shopping at the Victorian Holiday Marketplace; Victorian themed vendors will be selling one of a kind toys, arts and crafts, gourmet foods, holiday decor and more. Christmas tree and wreath displays, Victorian musicians, Life Sized Historic Santa through the Ages Exhibit and more will give you plenty to choose from to kick off your holiday season!

Holiday Shows

If you enjoy a more theatrical opening to your holidays, Myrtle Beach has you covered with award winning theaters a short 20 minute or less drive from The Strand Resort. The Souths Grandest Christmas Show at the Alabama Theatre and The Christmas Show of the South at the Carolina Opry showcase classic holiday hits. From November 9–December 31, The Pirates Voyage Christmas show takes you through a Christmas journey while you dine on a four-course meal.

Broadway at the Beach

Located only a few blocks from The Strand Resort, Broadway at the Beach is having it’s third annual A Very Broadway Christmas on December 2nd. Ripley's Aquarium will have a Holiday Parade at 11am and its Festival of Trees, with more than 75 trees, will be on display throughout the aquarium during November and December. Musical performances and kid's activities will take place during the afternoon on the Avenue at Broadway and at the Ripley's Aquarium Plaza. Finish the day with the 23rd annual Tree Lighting Celebration at 6pm in the Pavilion Park West. Live performances from Legends in Concert™, Carolina Freestyle Cloggers and more will be on display as well as a live appearance from Santa! You can also catch the fireworks display at 8pm on your way back to The Strand Resort.

Night of a Thousand Candles

If you’re looking to see a little more of the Grand Strand and bypass a little of the mainstream crowds, Brookgreen Gardens’ Night of a Thousand Candles is just for you! Over 5,500 hand lit candles and countless Christmas lights adorn the already-beautiful gardens located in Murrells Inlet, about 45 minutes from The Strand Resort. It’s best to arrive just before the sun sets to beat the main crowd; the exhibit is from 3–10pm on December 3–5, 10–12 and 17–20. Local catering also provides dinner to be bought in the gardens. The menu includes traditional cuisine such as seafood, chicken bog and vegetarian options.

No matter how you want to celebrate the holidays in Myrtle Beach, The Strand Resort is here to help you make your favorite holiday memory!
