Imagine playing the Grand Strand's best courses – all in one week. Here's your chance with the inaugural Myrtle Beach Fall Classic, and upstart tournament that will be held at eight of the top-rated layouts among the more than 100 golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area. Scheduled for November 17-20, the Myrtle Beach Fall Classic allows golfers to take their best shots the Grand Strand's best courses for a $325 entry fee, which includes four rounds of golf, two post-round functions with food and drink and a gift bag loaded with Myrtle Beach golf apparel and memorabilia. Featuring 100 two-man teams competing in four different formats each day – best ball, Texas scramble, combined net team score and a scramble – this 72-hole tournament will flight players by their USGA handicaps. In addition for competing for first place, golfers will be eligible for daily drawings and hole prizes (closest to the pin, etc.). The event features a course lineup that reads like a Who's Who of Grand Strand golf. Six of the eight layouts have been ranked among America’s top 100 public courses by major national golf publications, guaranteeing participating golfers four rounds on the following list of courses: Barefoot Resort: Both the famed Fazio and Norman courses are taking part in the upstart tournament. The Fazio Course has been ranked among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses by Golf Digest and hosted Big Break Myrtle Beach, while the Norman Course plays along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway. Caledonia Golf & Fish Club: This former rice plantation consistently ranks at the top of local courses, as well as earning national acclaim. Golf Digest and Golf Magazine consider Caledonia among America’s top 100 public courses, and it is known as one of the area’s most scenic layouts in the Pawleys Island Lowcountry. Grande Dunes Resort: One of the Grand Strand's newest designs is also one of its best. Grande Dunes has been ranked among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses by several golf publications and web sites, and it hosted the PGA Professional National Championship over the summer. Myrtle Beach National's King’s North: This popular layout is an Arnold Palmer signature design that has been ranked among the nation’s best public courses. Prestwick Country Club: After undergoing major renovations, this P.B. Dye design rates 4.5 stars from various golf publications. TPC Myrtle Beach: Widely considered the most challenging layout on the Grand Strand, this course is the former home of the Senior Tour Championship and is currently ranked among America’s top 100 public courses by Golf Digest. True Blue: This sister course of Caledonia earns similarly high marks among golfers and publications. The Mike Strantz design is rated America’s 77th best public course, according to Golf Magazine. Of course, the opportunity to play on the Grand Strand’s best courses is only part of the experience offered by the Myrtle Beach Fall Classic. Upon their arrival for registration on the Nov. 16, players will be treated to a meet and greet with free hors d'oeuvres and an open bar. Each day will feature post-round gatherings at the various 19th holes of participating courses. The tournament will be capped by a plated dinner and open bar at the awards ceremony at Crown Reef Resort. All participants will receive a tournament gift bag, including Myrtle Beach Fall Classic logo’d apparel, among other items.
