Since you will be our guest here in the beautiful South, we will start with a signature Southern drink – moonshine! We are, of course, talking about Palmetto Moonshine from South Carolina’s Palmetto Distillery, a company with deep roots in the Palmetto State and in the moonshine business. Started by brothers Trey and Bryan Boggs, the company’s mission is to honor the Boggs family’s long-standing heritage by creating whiskey and moonshine unmatched in taste and quality.

Palmetto Moonshine is easy to find in the Myrtle Beach area. The company has a store located at 4801 S. Kings Highway, about 10 minutes south of Paradise Resort. Once there, you will find 3,000 square feet of space filled with a wide selection of locally produced moonshine and whiskey. Be sure to take advantage of their FREE tour and learn the history of how moonshine is made, as well as the specific history of this local moonshine creation. Of course, for those in your party over the age of 21 (valid ID required), there are FREE tastings to indulge in. Be warned, though, this Southern treasure will likely be one you will want to take home with you. There is also a souvenir shop on premises, so in addition to being able to purchase all of the many flavors of Palmetto Moonshine, you’ll be able to gear up with T-shirts, glasses, mixers and more.

Now, let’s head north. Not too far north, but just up Kings Highway to North Myrtle Beach. Here, a little bit of sweetness can be found tucked in between Barefoot Landing and Alligator Adventure. This is Duplin Winery, best known as the producers of the nation’s favorite muscadine wine. They say that life is sweeter with Duplin, and there is a reason for that. These wines are made from only the very best and sweetest grapes.

While at the winery, you can learn about their bottling process, unwind in their courtyard, stroll through their shop (where they offer wine accessories and Duplin gourmet products such as mixers, jellies and sauces) and, of course, savor tastings of all they have to offer. Their wine tastings are open to those over 21 (with valid ID) with a $10 fee. The tasting fee is well-spent, as it provides you with the opportunity to sample up to 10 wines from their tasting list while also enjoying scrumptious crackers and dip that complement the wines perfectly. You will probably want to purchase at least one bottle to enjoy back in your room at Paradise Resort while overlooking the gorgeous Atlantic Ocean. What could be better?

We have one more stop on our sip-and-celebrate list. This one is a true love of locals. We are talking about Myrtle Beach’s New South Brewing. New South is a bit off the beaten track, but not too far from downtown Myrtle Beach or from Paradise Resort. Please note that with this hidden Myrtle Beach gem, you will need advance reservations for tours and tastings. Getting them isn’t difficult, though. You can make yours online by visiting squareup.com/store/newsouthbrewing.

New South, a microbrewery local to our beach town since 1998, is a favorite along the South Carolina coast and among many who come to visit and vacation here. The company has only one mission, and that is to supply those living in or visiting South Carolina with fresh and flavorful ales and lagers. They successfully accomplish this goal every single day. Don’t leave without tasting your way through the brewery and deciding on a favorite to take home or to enjoy beachside on your balcony at Paradise Resort. You can also peruse their website for local restaurants that proudly pour and serve New South Brewing products – so you can put those on your must-visit list during your stay.

We are pretty sure that you will find this sip-and-celebrate list unique and enjoyable. If you would like any information on these destinations while staying with us at The Strand Resort, never hesitate to let us know. We want you to relax and enjoy your stay. After all, you’re on vacation in Myrtle Beach!
