Myrtle Beach is known for its breathtaking scenery and multitude of attractions. Well, get ready to see all of its amazing sights from a different perspective. The Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon, set for October 22 and 23 this year, is back and better than ever!

The half-marathon race’s new course features over 5 miles of oceanfront running, allowing runners to enjoy this acclaimed vacation spot on foot. Whether you are a veteran runner or just a beginner, this event is meant for you. In addition to the half marathon, there is also a Coastal 5K race and a 1-mile Doggie Dash. Here’s the inside scoop on everything you need to know to enjoy your scenic athletic endeavor:

First, exciting news for us and our guests — the Strand Resort is actually in the race! That’s right, one of the many sights half-marathon participants will run by is our beautiful boutique resort located along the Atlantic Ocean. If you join the race, you will even get to grab some water while you are running by the property.

But that’s not all participants will see during the October 23 race. The beginning of the race course offers glimpses of a number of businesses and attractions that draw tourists to our well-known beach community, and the last 5 miles are sure to boost runner’s highs as participants run along Ocean Boulevard, breathing in the salty air and taking in exquisite views. Awaiting each finishing participant at the finish line, located along the well-known Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, will be a surfboard finisher medal, refreshments, and a post-race beach party and beer garden!

If 13.1 miles sounds like too much for you, no worries — you can still enjoy the fun and excitement by participating in the Coastal 5K or, if you prefer not to run alone, the Doggie Dash — both set for October 22. The Coastal 5K starts in The Market Common, allowing runners to view the outdoor village setting while enjoying the cool fall temperatures of the Grand Strand. After you finish the 5K, grab your awesome finisher medal and stick around to watch the Doggie Dash take place. The Doggie Dash allows dog owners to run or walk a mile with their four-legged best friends. All proceeds from this event will support to the Grand Strand Humane Society, and every doggie finisher will receive a Myrtle Beach Doggie Dash bandana!

Now that you have the details about the Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon, don’t wait to plan your vacation at The Strand, and get ready to enjoy your stay! After finishing the race of a lifetime, enjoy a dip in our oceanfront pool or even grab a bite to eat at The Market Restaurant or a drink at The Strand Bar. And if you’d really like to plan the perfect way to unwind and give your sore muscles a special treatment, ask about Mist Spa, which is located just a short walk north of the Strand Resort and is available by appointment. All Strand guests are welcome to enjoy full-body massages, body scrubs and even facials. Along with the many other modern accommodations and amenities available at The Strand, it’s the perfect way to treat yourself after a long day of running!
